APPAREL CARE

HAND-WASH, INSIDE OUT, IN COLD WATER WITH MILD DETERGENT, HANG DRY FOR ALL BHG APPAREL ITEMS

Washing your garments inside out protects your vinyl/screenprint ink items from washing out and abrasion inside the washer. Cold water temperatures are preferred due to the hot temperatures effect of weakening the adhesive of the vinyl and screenprint inks which causes it to fade, peel, and or crack. Use MILD detergent, any special additives like “whitener” “stain fighter” or “color brighteners” are too harsh. Heat transfer vinyl (HTV) items are activated and cured by high pressure and high temperature.

Hang dry is the best method for drying items. Just like with the washing process, you want to use minimal heat to protect your dye-sub and HTV. Hang dry also helps minimize wrinkles seen in the HTV after washing. Do not iron directly over any image area and do not use bleach or fabric softeners.

For screenprinted items in the shop, hand washing and hang drying is recommended. It is natural for the screenprint ink to fade/crack overtime after many washes. The ink used is sealed by heat. Do not put screenprinted items in the dryer, as this will crack the sealed ink after a few cycles. Avoid using bleach or harsh detergents on the fabrics and ink. Do not iron directly over ink. (Place a thin fabric between the iron or source of heat and the apparel item to avoid melting of ink if ironing is necessary).

NEVER dry clean or iron your items. The dry cleaning process has a lot of chemicals and high temps that will damage your heat transfer vinyl and screenprint plastisol ink.

COFFEE/TEA MUGS

Hand-wash all mugs from the shop with warm water and mild soap. Do not scrub. Do not put in dishwasher.

JEWELRY CARE

Store all jewelry items in plastic, sealable baggies to protect, prolong life, and to prevent wear and turning of the metals. Store different metals/jewelry pieces separately. If you no longer have the original plastic bag, I recommended using a Ziploc bag with the air squeezed out to prevent oxidation.

Remove before showering, exercising, or sleeping. Keep your jewelry dry, as moisture is the main factor that speeds up the tarnishing process. Avoid chemical solutions, perfumes, lotions, excessive sweat and soaps. Do not wear in the shower or pool unless advised otherwise. Chlorine can damage and discolor metals by eroding the finish and polish. See individual product details for more item specs in regards to care and storage.

Sterling silver items will need to be polished regularly upon turning to return its natural shine. See the FAQ page in the site menu for information on metals, allergies, and more.
